Meet Attorney Myra V. Whitener

MYRA V. WHITENERMyra is a native of North Carolina and earned her law degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2000, and graduated magna cum laude from Wake Forest University with a B.A. in English in 1994. She and her husband moved to Charleston in 2002 and have loved calling the Lowcountry home ever since.

Before joining the Taylor Anderson Law Firm, Myra spent eight years as a prosecutor for the Ninth Circuit Solicitor’s Office in downtown Charleston, where she successfully prosecuted numerous violent crimes ranging from drug possession/distribution to criminal sexual conduct and murder. She handled and tried cases involving juvenile and adult defendants in both the Family Court Division and General Sessions. Following her time as a prosecutor, Myra transitioned to handling abuse and neglect cases in Family Court for several years as a lead trial attorney for the South Carolina Department of Social Services.

Myra has also had extensive civil litigation experience, both with firms who represent plaintiffs and defense firms, primarily in the areas of personal injury, construction defect litigation, business disputes, employment law, and toxic tort litigation.

Myra’s time spent litigating cases on behalf of plaintiffs and her work as a prosecutor with victims of crime have given her a unique perspective on helping others, and she puts that experience into practice every day in advocating for those who have been injured.

Myra and her husband Benjamin, a local architect, live in West Ashley with their two daughters, Noelle and Ava. Myra can usually be found enjoying the beaches in the area with her family or sampling one of the many wonderful restaurants Charleston has to offer.
